Local-first workspace
Your saved history, generated codes, OCR results and Scanora-managed documents are stored locally in the app or device storage.
PRIVACY POLICY
Scanora is a local-first QR, barcode, OCR and document scanning app. Your scans, generated content and saved history are designed to stay on your device unless you choose to share or export them.
AT A GLANCE
Scanora does not require you to create an account. QR and barcode scans, generated codes, OCR text, document scans, history and preferences are designed to stay on your device unless you choose to export or share them.
Your saved history, generated codes, OCR results and Scanora-managed documents are stored locally in the app or device storage.
Scanora does not require registration and does not ask you to create a Scanora profile to use its core features.
Content leaves Scanora only when you intentionally use actions such as Share, Save to device, Open in another app, email or SMS.
DATA & PERMISSIONS
Permissions and files are used only to provide the scanning, recognition, saving and sharing features you request.
Scanora may request camera access to scan QR codes and barcodes. Camera frames are analyzed for code detection while you use the scanner. Scanora does not operate a developer server that receives your live camera feed.
When you choose an image for gallery scanning, OCR or document-related workflows, Android's system picker or applicable storage access is used to access the file you select. Scanora processes the selected content for the feature you requested.
Text recognition uses Google ML Kit on the device. Recognized text may be saved to your Scanora Library when you choose to keep it, and may be copied, shared or exported only when you request those actions.
Document scanning uses the Google ML Kit document scanner. Scanora can keep generated PDF documents in its local Library and can export copies to a device location you select. Google Play services may download scanner components required for this feature.
Values you scan or generate can include text, URLs, phone numbers, email details, Wi-Fi credentials, contact information and other code payloads. These values are handled locally and may appear in your local history until you delete them or clear app data.
Preferences such as theme, language, onboarding state, scan sound, haptic feedback and similar settings may be stored locally using Android app storage.
On Android 9 and below, Scanora may request storage permission when required to save exported images. On newer Android versions, modern scoped-storage and system-picker flows are used where applicable.
SERVICE PROVIDERS
Some app features depend on Google-provided Android components. Their processing is governed by Google's applicable terms and privacy policies.
Used for barcode scanning, text recognition and document scanning. Depending on the feature and installed components, ML Kit or Google Play services may process limited device and technical information necessary to deliver the service.
Scanora may check Google Play for app updates and show an update flow. Google Play handles update availability, download and installation under Google's own policies.
If you share, open, email, dial, text, save or otherwise send content to another app, Android transfers the selected content to that app. The receiving app's privacy policy then applies.
YOUR CHOICES
Scanora gives you practical controls over locally stored content, app permissions and sharing.
You can remove individual Library items inside Scanora. Clearing Scanora's app data or uninstalling the app can remove app-private history, settings and Scanora-managed local files. Files you deliberately exported to another device location may remain there until you delete them.
You can review or revoke Scanora permissions through Android Settings. Some features, such as camera scanning, may not work when the required permission is denied.
Sharing and exporting are user-initiated. Before sending sensitive QR content, Wi-Fi credentials, contact details, OCR text or documents to another app or person, review the destination and content.
Local Scanora data remains on your device until you delete it, clear app data or uninstall Scanora, subject to Android storage behavior. Third-party Google services retain any data they independently process according to their own policies and settings.
Scanora uses Android platform security, scoped storage where applicable and app-private storage for managed data. No mobile app or storage system can guarantee absolute security, so protect your device and review sensitive content before sharing it.
Scanora is a general-purpose scanning utility and is not specifically directed to children. Scanora does not require account registration or intentionally request profile information from children.
